Jargon Buster

1. Mouth Guard
Guides the hose back onto the reel

2. Hose Stop/Bumper
This has many names and is used to stop the hose retracting all the way onto the reel - it is fully adjustable

3. Drive Spring Casette
This cassette is sealed and holds the spring that puls back the hose. It is extrememtly dangerous to open this as the spring will uncoil very quickly and can be over 20m long

4. Latch
Locks the hose reel in place

5 Swivel Joint
This is required to allow the drum to spin while hose doesnt turn

6. Flange
The discs at either end of the drum.

7. Gooseneck
Named after the shape of the fluid path leading from the swivel joint. There are many shapes and sizes.

8. Fluid Path
The path from the swivel to the hose outlet. For certain applications such as AdBlue or drinking water this needs to be made from stainless steel.

9. Outlet
The end of the fluid path, this is where the hose attaches to

10. Guide Arm
This is the arm part that holds the roller guides. On most reels this arm is adjustable to provide different mounting positions.

11. I.D.
Inside Diamter or Internal Diamter. Used to descibe the inside hole on the hoes pipe or the swivel joint and fluid path. Both metric and imperial mesuremets are common and often used together e.g. 1/2” = 12mm

12. O.D.
Outside Diameter, used to describe the overall diameter of the hose. Even if the I.D. is the same on different types of hose, this measuremnt can vary greatly depending on the thickness of the hose wall.

This measurement can have an effect on the amount of hose that will fit onto a hose reel drum.

13. Hose Termination
This referes the the last point of the hose. We supply almost all of our hose with fully crimped and sawged fittings for maximum hose life

14. Hose Connections
Refers to the fittings used on the hose and include a hose tail & furrels
